Primary School, Grade 1 (Age 6)
English language is taught in seven groups, and students practice simple tricky words and alternative spellings. Students start reading books that are suitable for their level, while developing their writing, speaking and listening skills on learning units that focus on specific topics.
Primary School, Grades 2 - 4
Basic literacy skills are further developed alongside speaking and listening using the literacy program and thematic units.
Primary School, Grade 4
What is the best way for children to learn English?
Foreign language education should start at an early age, as the younger the child, the easier it is to learn a new language. The curriculum of TED Rönesans is guided by international standards, with each grade structured to support the social, physical, mental and emotional development of the child. TED Rönesans College’s early years program features a thematic approach combined with a phonics-based curriculum to maximize the development of English skills. It also teaches learning strategies, critical thinking skills and studying skills. Starting at preschool level (age 4), the phonics program provides the foundation that young students will continue to develop throughout their primary education.
Club Activities
Students’ English language learning is augmented by various club activities.
International Exams
Students prepare for Cambridge Young Learners exams beginning in grade 2 and take the Cambridge Flyers exam at the end of grade 4. These play an essential role in preparing and motivating them for middle school and beyond.
Assessment and Evaluation Student achievement is assessed and evaluated continuously from preschool (age 4) to grade 3 in order to understand and monitor their progress. Fourth grade students take two exams each academic term to show their development, and are also subject to progress assessment on a continuous basis.
Newcomers to TED
In order to support newcomers, especially those without a strong foundation in English language, we employ a comprehensive and customized support program in all grade levels. In addition to the in-class strategies (in grades 3 and 4) and after-school support programs implemented by our team of experienced teachers, we also meet students’ individual needs with the help of the RAZ Kids software and MyOn. RAZ Kids and MyOn (RAZ grades 1, 2 & 3, MyOn grade 4) are stimulating, literature-based electronic learning platforms with customized activities and reading exercises based on each student’s proficiency in English.
